The Plague
রচনা: আলবেয়ার কামু
A quarantined city confronts fear and suffering in Camus's novel of human responsibility.
এই বই সম্পর্কে
An outbreak of plague overturns ordinary life in Oran. Quarantine turns familiar streets into a confined world, while fear of death, isolation and uncertainty place new pressure on the townspeople. Some surrender to what they regard as fate; others look for someone to blame. Dr Rieux chooses to keep working against the disease rather than accept helplessness as an answer. Camus contrasts these responses to ask what responsibility means when danger becomes a shared condition. Courage emerges through the determination to resist suffering, even without the assurance of success. Also readable as an allegory of life under Nazi occupation, The Plague connects its epidemic story with questions of solidarity, resistance and the effort to preserve human dignity in circumstances people cannot control.
